High Tea with Handel a Great Success!

George Frideric Handel and the Handel Choir would like to thank everyone who celebrated his 322nd birthday on March 4, 2007. Our annual fundraiser, High Tea with Handel: Sunday in the Castle with George, raised more than the budgeted goal of $7,500. More than 100 music lovers gathered at the historic Cloisters Castle to savor fine teas and sweets, bid on silent auction items and enjoy a concert of chamber music performed by the Chandos Singers, guest soprano Emily Noel, gambist Daniel Rippe and harpsichordist Tom Hetrick conducted by Melinda O'Neal. The concert featured works by Bach, Handel, Purcell and a selection of American music from the early classical period. Guests bid enthusiastically on a wide variety of silent auction items, and Handel thanked everyone who "bought him a birthday present!"

We thank every donor, every volunteer and every guest for their support. Special thanks to the DiGirolamo Group of Long and Foster Real Estate, Inc. for their bronze sponsorship of this event. We would like to recognize the following individuals, organizations and corporations for their donations of food or items to the silent auction:
