Welcome from the Artistic Director

Greetings and welcome! I am pleased to announce Handel Choir of Baltimore stands ready to bring you an outstanding 82nd season. You won’t want to miss a single concert, not just because we are drawing from the finest music of the past, present, and future, but because of who we are.

We are conservationists, preservers and curators: We’re kicking off our season in baroque style. Handel Choir’s presentation of Handel’s timeless Messiah is a proud Baltimore tradition. Watch the sparks fly as the Choir performs with some of the most formidable baroque instrument specialists from across the Mid-Atlantic, joined by nationally and internationally renowned soloists.Arian Khaefi photo by Roy Cox Photography

We are cultivators and nurturers: Taking its name from the “responsible food” movement, Farm to Table, our midwinter concert, supports new musical gestures and advocates for a new generation of sophisticated, accessible choral music. The program features emerging, mid-career, and master composers, including many with Baltimore and Maryland connections. Handel Choir is thrilled to play an active role in sustaining the future of choral composition!

American composers take the spotlight in Soul Seeds with four incredibly gorgeous sets of music. This program highlights the potential for profound depth of expression that lies in a composer’s choice of text, from John Muir’s writings on conservation to an intricate reimagining of work by the Renaissance master Palestrina as a framework for the Hebrew aleph bet.

We are explorers, trailblazers and pathfinders: We are an organization with an unquenchable drive for growth. Thank you for joining us on our mission to seek out and passionately perform the finest music of the past, present and future, for you and for this great city.
